How long does it take to craft a jewellery piece?
Each piece of jewellery is lovingly handcrafted by me in my floating workshop. As a sole artisan, I make each piece individually with care, intention and attention to detail.
Most pieces are made to order. My usual making time is 3–6 weeks, although during particularly busy periods this can extend to 10 weeks.
Gold jewellery, and any other pieces requiring hallmarking, will also need to visit the Assay Office before they can be sent to you. Please allow additional time for this process.
Bespoke commissions will have their own estimated timeline, which we'll agree on before I begin making your piece.

Shipping
Orders are lovingly packed and shipped from wherever my narrowboat is currently located within the United Kingdom.
UK orders: Ready-to-ship pieces are usually dispatched within 3 working days using a tracked delivery service. Made-to-order pieces will be dispatched once your jewellery has been completed.
International orders: International orders are sent using a tracked and insured service. Delivery times vary depending on the destination and customs processing. Tracking details will be provided once your order has been dispatched.
Ring Re-Sizing
If your ring needs resizing, whether it’s one of my own designs or a treasured piece from elsewhere, I offer a professional resizing service at my studio. Prices start from £50, with additional costs for more complex pieces or jewellery with gemstones that may need to be removed and reset.
As I work using traditional techniques rather than laser technology, some resizing work can take a little longer. If you require a particularly quick turnaround, I recommend contacting a local jeweller who offers laser resizing.

Do you work with precious stones?
Yes, I do! The stones I work with are carefully sourced through trusted, sustainable, and ethical suppliers I’ve partnered with throughout my jewellery journey. Each stone is selected for its beauty, energy, and connection to the natural world.

Absolutely! Creating bespoke jewellery is a process I deeply enjoy, as it allows me to craft something truly meaningful and personal for you. What is your return policy?
Most of my jewellery is individually made to order according to your chosen specifications, which may include your ring size, metal, gemstones and other design options. Bespoke commissions are also created specifically for you.
Because these pieces are made to your individual specifications, they cannot usually be returned or exchanged simply because you have changed your mind.
If you are unhappy with your order or believe there is a problem with your jewellery, please contact me at info@thefloatingjeweller.co.uk as soon as possible so I can help find the best resolution.
If your jewellery arrives faulty or damaged. Please get in touch. Depending on the circumstances, I will arrange an appropriate repair, replacement or refund in accordance with your statutory rights.
What materials do you use?
My made-to-order jewellery is available in recycled .925 sterling silver, brass and 9ct gold.
I also work with gold in a range of carats and colours, including yellow, white and rose gold, which are available on request for bespoke pieces and designs in the shop.
My 18ct gold-plated jewellery is crafted using a .925 sterling silver base with a 5-micron layer of gold plating.

Jewellery Care Guide
Each piece of jewellery is handcrafted to be worn, loved and treasured. With a little care, your jewellery can stay beautiful for many years to come.
I believe in caring for and restoring the things we already own rather than replacing them, so I always encourage gentle cleaning, repairing and re-polishing wherever possible.
Everyday Care
Remove your jewellery before swimming, bathing or using household cleaning products, and try to avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions and harsh chemicals. After wearing, gently wipe your jewellery with a soft cloth to remove any oils or residue.
As gemstones can vary in how they should be cared for, take extra care when cleaning pieces containing stones. If you're ever unsure, please get in touch before cleaning your piece at home.
Sterling Silver & Brass
Silver and brass naturally oxidise and develop a patina over time. This is completely normal and part of the character of these metals. If you prefer a brighter finish, gently polish your piece with a soft jewellery polishing cloth. Keeping it somewhere dry when you're not wearing it will also help slow down tarnishing.
Solid Gold
Gold is wonderfully durable but can still pick up scratches and signs of wear over time. Store your gold jewellery separately where possible and gently clean it with a soft cloth to maintain its natural shine.
Gold-Plated Jewellery
Gold plating needs a little extra care. Avoid prolonged contact with water, perfumes, lotions and cleaning products. After wearing, gently wipe your piece with a soft cloth and store it somewhere dry to help preserve the plating for as long as possible.
Professional Care, Polishing & Repairs
Jewellery is made to be worn, so signs of wear are completely natural. If your piece becomes scratched, tarnished or simply needs a little love, I'm more than happy to professionally clean and polish it for you.
I can also help with re-oxidising, re-pl
ating and repairs where possible. These services are available for a fee depending on the work required.
Looking after, repairing and restoring jewellery helps extend its life and is an important part of my approach to creating jewellery more consciously.
