The Three Hares
The symbol of the Three Hares was first discovered in cave temples around China’s Silk Road in the Early Middle Ages, approximately 1500 years ago. Each hare appears to have two ears, yet only three are depicted as they all share one. The symbol continued to be discovered on Islamic coins, in Buddhist caves, Jewish synagogues, Celtic and Christian churches, found carved into sacred roofs of Dartmoor’s ancient churches, suggesting it is a cross-cultural spiritual symbol transcending borders and dancing through centuries of beliefs with its presence across multiple cultures and faiths, like the shared ear amongst the hares, a quiet reminder of the deeper threads that connect us all and a symbol of the eternal turning of the wheel. 
 
The sacred number three has deep symbolic meaning in Pagan and Celtic spirituality, the triangle of manifestation and the sacred triad, everything of importance comes in threes, here, now and always. 
 
The Three Hares chasing each other in an infinite dance, mirroring the eternal cycles of nature and interconnectedness of life; the importance and necessity  of each stage within that cycle summarised by The Triple goddess, carved into the back of each piece, representing the three main phases of life; growth, fulfilment & release, which all beings experience.
