A hag stone found on the Yorkshire coast, sand cast to preserve its naturally weathered texture, with the reverse smoothed for comfortable wear. Formed entirely by time, tide and earth, the original stone carries a naturally occurring hole through its centre.

In folklore, hag stones ~ also known as adder stones or witch stones ~ have long been carried as protective talismans. They were hung above doorways to ward against unwanted spirits, worn for protection, and their natural holes were believed to offer a glimpse into the spirit world.
